FAQ
Deductible– Is the amount you pay for health care services before your health insurance begins
to pay.
For example). If you have a 1,500 deductible, you’ll pay 100 percent of eligible health care
expenses until the bill totals 1,500. Then you share the cost with your plan by paying
coinsurance.
Coinsurance– is the percent of costs of a covered health care service after you’ve paid your
deductible.
For example). Your health insurance plan’s allowed amount for an office visit is $100, lets say
your coinsurance is 20% you would pay 20% of $100.
Copay or Copayment– is a fixed out-of-pocket amount paid by an insured for covered services.
You may have a coinsurance as well just depends on your plan.
Out of pocket maximum– The most you have to pay for covered services in a plan year. After
you have spent this amount on deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance for in-network care
your health plan pays 100% of the costs of covered benefits
Limitations– any maximums that a health insurance plan imposes on specific benefits. Can be
dollar limitations for example, $1,500 a year. Or it could also be max visitations a year.
